PreK

Through carefully thought out lesson plans pared down from state standards, our PreK students are taught the larger foundational skills for their future education. When leaving our PreK classrooms, our goal is that students will be capable of entering Kindergarten with a baseline of knowledge that they can expand on, along with ability to thrive in the structure of a full-day classroom.

    Welcome! My name is  Ashley Kraussman and I am privileged to have the opportunity love and serve a great community here at St. Paul Christian Day School for the last 5 years! My passions for early childhood education include helping your child have fun while growing physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially!

    I attended Wayland Baptist University to earn my Bachelors of Science and Associates degree in Business Management. I am currently further pursuing my passion for Early Childhood Education. 

    I am a proud mom of two fun boys and a wife of 14 yearsI In our free time we enjoy traveling, outdoor activities and watching our boys active in sports!

  • Ms. Brandi Cannon

    PREK

    My name is Brandi Cannon, and I feel so blessed to be teaching Pre-K at St. Paul Christian Day School. I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies, and began my career teaching Pre-K 3. Over time, I stepped into leadership roles and eventually served as a preschool director for 12 years. I felt the Lord leading me back to the classroom, where my heart has always been. This new season will allow me to pour into children more personally while also being present for my own family, and bringing Christ back to the center of our home.  

    Teaching has always been more than a job for me, it’s a calling. I’m passionate about helping young children grow not only academically but spiritually. I love guiding children and planting seeds of faith that will bloom as they shine His light into the world.

    I’m married and have two wonderful children, ages 2 and 5, along with two sweet dogs. In my free time, I enjoy baking, reading, and spending quality time with my family. I’m so grateful to be part of the St. Paul community and excited for all God has in store for this school year.

  • Ms. Elyse Johnson

    Hey Y’all, my name is Elyse Johnson and I am excited you are here. I am a Pre-K teacher here at St. Paul’s and I have always known education was my calling. I graduated from UTSA in 2014 and worked for a baby designer until I dove into education. I have been teaching since 2018 where I started with Special Education moved to 2nd grade and then finally landed working at the Preschools my daughters attended. I started at CBC in San Antonio for a year but then landed at St. Paul’s in the fall of 2020 and I knew this was Gods plan for me and my family. I am blessed to be starting my 5th year at St. Paul’s but did take a year off to have my youngest daughter. I love being in the classroom and watching little minds grow.

    I have been happily married for 9 years to my husband Blake and we have three beautiful daughters Kinsey, Kambree, and Krosbie. Kinsey will be starting 3rd grade this year and attended two years at St. Paul’s. Kambree will be in first grade and went all 4 years at St. Paul’s. Krosbie will start at St. Paul’s this year in the 18 month old room. My girls loved the school and learned so much, they still have friends from St. Paul’s and will always cherish the memories. 

    We are a very busy family, so in our free time we seem to be at the softball fields or at the cheerleading gym. We do love to travel when we can but also just spending time at home and swimming. 

    I am so happy to work the most amazing team and the amazing children that are brought into the school! 

  • Ms. Ruth McLain

    PREK

    My name is Ruth McLain and I am a Pre-K teacher at St. Paul's Christian Day School. This is my 9th year teaching here. I graduated from Texas State with a degree in Education (certified to teach Pre-K thru 6th grade) and a minor in Early Childhood. I taught Kindergarten in Comal ISD at both Goodwin Primary (in New Braunfels) and at Specht Elementary before staying home with my children. When I decided to go back to teaching I chose St. Paul's because of the type of program they offered (not just as a Mother's Day Out program). It's a school that helps prepare children academically, emotionally & spiritually by providing a fun, hands-on, loving and nurturing environment to grow in. It's a great place to be!

    On a personal note, I have been married 25 years and have 2 children, Matthew (age 21) and Gabby (19)...we are getting close to finding out what that "empty nest" feels like! I work part-time (weekends & holidays) at Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch and when I have free time I enjoy family time, playing games, reading, cooking, watching movies, walking, swimming, traveling & shopping.
